Sifu Ray Carbullido

Sifu Ray began his training in Guam where he taught Icho Ryu Aikijujutsu and Swordsmanship under Sensei Luis Cabral and Sensei Andrew Rania. In 1995, Sifu Ray moved to Hawaii and met Sifu Chris and has had the privilege of training with all of Sifu Chris’ main teachers.  Shortly after, in 1998, Sifu Chris officially named Sifu Ray the Head Master of Dragon Gate Sanctuary.  In 2000, Sifu Ray has moved the school to its current location, the Shingon Shu Temple in Honolulu, and has dedicated his life to sharing his kung fu (hard work) with the world.  He has traveled to places such as New Zealand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, China, Peru, Colombia, New York, Arizona, and California to do various seminars and continues to do so to share his training, knowledge, and life.

Sifu Ray also owns a successful, Honolulu based, creative consulting firm named Madskill.  According to Sifu Ray, Madskill is a way for him to demonstrate how martial skill transforms into life skill.  He founded and built the company on all the same principles and philosophies that have been passed on to him by all his teachers.  Sifu Ray continues to explore ways for him to express his kung fu and to demonstrate the relevance of the knowledge that he cultivates and shares to everyday life.  “True mastery is when one expresses their knowledge of their craft in every facet of life.”
